When searching for Pawrade puppies for sale, you’re probably wondering, “What are the best must-have puppy products I need?” It’s helpful to ask experienced puppy owners what products they recommend to make those first days or months an enjoyable experience for all before you even bring home your puppy.

At Pawrade, we’re lucky to be a part of an outstanding staff that works hard to provide a pawsitive puppy buying experience. Not only are we passionate about helping our customers, but we are also avid, enthusiastic pet owners ourselves! We’ve been there as new puppy owners, and we can’t wait to share with you what must-have puppy supplies were beneficial and useful during those first few months of owning a puppy.

Here are the 13 best puppy products we recommend to new pawrents that have greatly enhanced our new puppy experience. We hope you’ll get some great ideas for what you’d like to try out for your new furbaby.

1. Frisco Fold & Carry Single Door Collapsible Wire Dog Crate

Lucy Hughes, Brand Journalist

We are so glad we crate-trained Bowie, our Golden Retriever puppy. We worked diligently to make his crate a happy place, his own little den that we tried to get him to associate with positive experiences – and it worked! Bowie will go in there and hang out unprompted. This crate is amazing for home or travel because it folds down, is easy to transport, and even better, very easy to put back up again. We also love the easy-to-clean tray at the bottom, which is imperative for new puppies! The divider panel allowed us to adjust the size as he rapidly grew, meaning we didn’t have to buy several different crate sizes. He’s almost a year old in this picture and honestly still has quite the puppy spirit at almost 3 years old.

2. iFetch Mini Automatic Ball Launcher Dog Toy

Morgan Elliott, Travel Liaison

I had a Boston Terrier puppy who kept himself busy ALL DAY with the iFetch, and now my Shih Tzu uses it. They learn really quickly, and it keeps them busy which means they aren't chewing or doing other things you don't want them to!

3. KONG Natural Teething Rubber for Large Puppies

Kenneth Thomas, Puppy Concierge

I loved this because I could fill it with KONG Puppy Easy Treat; Snacks or Ziggies. It kept my English Bulldog puppy, Otis, occupied. If your pup somehow manages to destroy the toy, the blue version of this toy is the only one that my vet said is detectable when they do medical imaging to see if the puppy ingested it.

4. NYLABONE FlexiChew Chicken Flavored Dog Chew Toy

Tara Mir, Puppy Concierge

I loved my NYLABONE, and so did my puppy! I got one to help my Mini Goldendoodle puppy during her teething phase. I would put it in the freezer for a bit and then give it to her for small periods of time, and then I'd place it back in the freezer. It really helped her with teething pain and also helped the baby teeth fall out eventually. I definitely recommend one, and always monitor their time with it.

5. Internet's Best Pet Gate

Beth Weems, Breeder Liaison Program Director

I love these free-standing gates because it keeps my dog where she belongs in my home. They do not mess up the walls and look great. They are easy to walk in, out, and over while keeping your puppy contained.

6. PET CORRECTOR Dog Trainer

Courtney Dean, Social Engagement Director

I hired a trainer when I brought home my Pug puppy. She taught us the air can sound training tool. We were told the Pet Corrector is better than using a stern voice and was a positive training tool - much better than yelling “No!” or “Bad Dog!” which can be mentally hard on a puppy that just wants to please its humans. We used it for correcting potty training, biting, barking, and jumping behavior. She learned extremely quickly - it only took a few puffs to stop the behaviors. Eight years later, if we need to stop a behavior, all we do is show her the air can. She immediately stops and sits like a good girl!

7. Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound Dog Hide N Slide Dog Toy

Destiny Freeman, Customer Concierge

The Hide N Slide puzzle is absolutely great for pups because it’s interactive and keeps our little girl entertained. It’s been really helpful, especially with redirecting destructive behaviors, and it’s really durable! I’d recommend it in a heartbeat for any puppy parents looking to add mental stimulation to puppy play.

8. Wee-Wee Absorbent Dog Pads

Leonard Carney, Sales

You can never go wrong with puppy pads. Trained or not, they always come in handy! I love them because they are so versatile. I used them inside and outside so my puppy could get familiar with a routine.

9. Buck Bone Organics Whole Deer Antlers Dog Chews

Shannon Gegor, Travel Manager

I have no clue what their obsession is with the antlers, but my one pup is 4 and the other is 1 and still use them daily!

10. Caldwell's Potty Bells

Kelly Wicoff, Puppy Concierge

I attached the bells near the bottom of the door and taught my Rat Terrier puppy to ring them to ask to go outside. He learned to hit them with his paw in 2 days!

11. Homedics SoundSleep White Noise Sound Machine

Jen Elliot, Operations Manager

I found that a noise maker or light calming music for our puppy was super helpful during crate training at night and when I was at work. I feel due to all of the changes in the environment and the absence of familiarity for my puppy, it seemed to ease crying, whining, and anxiety until my puppy was fully adjusted.

12. Frisco Plush Orthopedic Bolster Dog Bed w/Removable Cover

Devlyn Ray, Breeder Liaison Manager

Best dog bed ever!!! This was the first bed I purchased for my Old English Sheepdog puppy, Fitzgerald, and it is not only still his favorite, but it's also the only one that he has not managed to dig holes in. I love that the bolster has held its shape and the gray and cream fabric fits in well with my decor.

13. Snuggle Puppy Heartbeat Stuffed Toy

Tania Moss, Program Director, &  Gina Diaddigo, Puppy Concierge

Tania: The heating pad and heartbeat calm new puppies coming to a new environment and help encourage crate training and nighttime sleep. This particular brand seems to be well stitched and has lasted through 3 puppies of different breeds and sizes and destructiveness. A definite must-have!

Gina: Hulk, our Olde English Bulldogge puppy, would curl up with the puppy and fall asleep. The heartbeat was very soothing to him.
