Characteristics

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs have a muscular, powerful build and are medium-sized to large dogs. Males weigh 70-90 pounds and 21- 24 inches tall, and females weigh 55-75 pounds and stand 18-22 inches tall at the withers. They are sometimes mistaken for other Bulldog, Bully, or large Terrier breeds, but they're a stand-alone dog breed and not a designer or hybrid dog breed.

A wide mouth and large tongue give an appearance as if an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy is smiling, but they can also look quite imposing with their stocky build and large, square heads. They have a brachycephalic nose (short muzzle) and may experience breathing problems if not monitored due to a narrow airway.

Their short, single coats can come in a variety of colors and patch patterns due to genetics, where the preferred coloring is half-white with another color or pattern. Colors mixed with white can be brindle, blue, harlequin, chocolate fawn, seal, merle, black, piebald, and sometimes all-white.

Activity Level

Despite their beefy appearance, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppies for sale are light on their feet and move quickly. Their power-packed muscles are ready for action and need to be exercised hard for at least an hour a day with physical activity, mental stimulation, and training as part of their exercise regimen.

As working dogs, they are used to quite a bit of activity out in the elements, so they will need lots of room to roam and a secure fence due to their high prey drive.

An Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy for sale will do best when given a "job" to do, even if you don't own livestock. If not provided an outlet for their energy, they may suffer from behavior issues and bad habits. A bored Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy can be quite destructive, so keep them busy!

Disposition

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppies for sale are well-balanced, confident dogs that are fearless and loyal to their families. They make excellent family guard dogs and serve as "nanny dogs" to the children in their household. They are not afraid of people but are not overly aggressive or hostile despite their imposing appearance.

A bold, independent nature makes an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy an excellent working dog. While extremely loyal to their family, they are independent dogs and are not considered "velcro" dogs.

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppies for sale are very attentive to their owners. Because they like being part of the family, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs should not be left on a tie-out or in a kennel.

Training

Dutiful, obedient, and smart are all adjectives to describe the nature of Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppies for sale when beginning training. They'll need a firm but skilled leader to establish good habits and a work ethic. They are not recommended for novice owners since they will require extensive training.

Because they are eager to please and so loyal, they make excellent candidates for protection work and obedience trials. It's a good idea to put an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy in training situations beyond puppy kindergarten by working with a handler. If you don't channel their drive to protect and teach them appropriate ways to protect their family, they could develop bad habits, so start them early with socialization and training.

Grooming Needs & Care

Overall, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppies for sale require minimal grooming but do still shed. Even though considered low-maintenance, brush their coat at least once a week to remove dead hairs. Bathe them when they start to get stinky, clip their nails regularly, and check their eyes and ears for any signs of infection to keep them healthy in between regular vet visits.

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs can experience potential respiratory issues due to their short muzzle, skin problems, hip dysplasia, and deafness. With regular care, your Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy for sale can have a fulfilling life as your hardworking canine companion.
