Keeshond Puppies For Sale: About the Breed

If you're looking for a strikingly unique dog with an outgoing, friendly personality, then a Keeshond puppy for sale checks all the boxes!

Descended from ancient Arctic dogs that count Samoyeds and Pomeranians among their ancestors, the breed made its way to the Netherlands and was developed during the 18th century and named after a political leader, Kees de Gyselaer. Initially, they were watchdogs on canal barges on the Rhine River and up and down the low country canals and later became symbols of the Dutch Patriots' movement and national pride. You can find them in several Dutch political cartoons from that era as well.

Today, the Keeshond's loyal and sociable nature remains a big draw to this unique breed. They're gaining in popularity over recent years and are #90 out of #199 AKC's most popular dog breeds, so they're right in the middle.
