Shepadoodle Puppies for Sale

Shepadoodle Puppies For Sale: About the Breed

The friendly Shepadoodle is a designer dog breed crossing a Poodle and a German Shepherd. The first cross-bred litters appeared around the 1960s when the US Army experimented with combining two of the world's most intelligent and hard-working dog breeds known for their athleticism, loyalty, and amazing sense of smell.

Today, Shepadoodle puppies for sale might not be as well-known as other doodle dogs, but you'll fall in love with them the more you get to know about their characteristics, activity level, disposition, training requirements, and grooming needs.

Characteristics

Shepadoodle puppies come in Toy, Miniature, or Standard sizes depending on the size of the Poodle parent, but the standard size of 50-90 lbs. and 22-28 in. tall fits the profile of most Shepadoodles you'll encounter. They feature a long tail, floppy ears that hang down the sides of their long-snouted faces.

A Shepadoodle puppy for sale can inherit a variety of coat textures depending on genetics. They can have the longer, shaggy, rough hair of a German Shepherd or the soft curls of a Poodle. Regardless of its coat texture, a Shepadoodle puppy for sale is considered hypoallergenic due to a lack of a protein in their saliva and dander that triggers the immune system of people with allergies.

Activity Level

Shepadoodle puppies for sale are medium-to-high-energy dogs that need plenty of both mental and physical exercise, around an hour a day or more, so parents must be prepared to commit time and energy to their new pet. However, they are not so hyper that they are obnoxious and cause problems after a hard exercise session. They can also be content lying with you on the couch for some snuggles after playtime.

A Shepadoodle puppy for sale is a fun companion to take on adventures. They love long walks, hiking, and even running alongside you while you ride your bike. Make sure you choose an activity that you both enjoy and can do regularly to keep your Shepadoodle puppy for sale in good health both physically and mentally.

Disposition

If you're googling, "What is the personality of a Shepadoodle puppy for sale?" you'll find this crossover ideally holds the best parts of their parent breeds. Shepadoodle puppies for sale should grow to be smart, loyal to a fault, pleasant, and excellent watchdogs without barking incessantly.

Shepadoodle puppies for sale form close connections with their owners and are eager to please their owners, making them ideal companions for older children or families with infants. Because of their energy level, Shepadoodle puppies for sale may not be the best choice for apartment living or in dwellings without open space to play and burn off energy.

Training

A Shepadoodle puppy for sale is a combination of two of the most intelligent dog breeds to exist! You'll find when looking for "Shepadoodle puppies for sale near me" that they are very responsive to training techniques using positive reinforcement and are quick learners.

Because they are so smart and athletic, you'll have great results if you train them to do a "job" to keep their brains engaged and focused. Shepadoodle puppies make excellent therapy dogs that are welcome in healthcare facilities thanks to their hypoallergenic status and ability to be highly trained. They would also excel in fun extra training activities like scent work and agility.

With the right environment, Shepadoodles can develop into obedient and social family members that fit any size household. However, if you fail to provide training and socialization opportunities, your Shepadoodle puppy will be too smart for its own good and will create its own way to occupy itself, often ending in property destruction, digging, pacing, and more undesirable behavior.

Grooming Needs & Care

You may be wondering, "How do I groom a Shepadoodle puppy for sale near me?" Because you know they're a mix of a breed that sheds quite a bit (the German Shepherd) and a breed that doesn't shed hardly at all (the Poodle), you'll be happy to know a Shepadoodle takes after its Poodle side as far as (non)shedding is concerned.

Their single coat is made up of hair, so a Shepadoodle puppy for sale will need to have this ever-growing hair cut on a regular basis. In between grooming sessions, aim to brush your Shepadoodle puppy with a slicker brush to keep mats, debris, and dirt at bay and to distribute natural oils for a healthy coat. Nail trimming and regular dental care will prevent further health problems.
