How the Pawrade Staff Celebrates the Holidays With Our Pets

Whether we are “dog people” or love our other pets, we have one thing in common at Pawrade – we are animal lovers through and through. Whether you are celebrating your first Christmas with your new puppy or have years of memories to look back on, Pawrade wishes you happiness during this festive season. Here are ways the Pawrade Staff enjoys the holiday season with our pets.

Tara Mir, Puppy Concierge, Norman & Millie the Goldendoodles

Every year, I get my babies this really cool bone from Petsmart that they love! I even get them toys and half-wrap their gifts so they can open them by themselves. I dress them up in their Christmas outfits and spend all day with them. This year while decorating my house, my dogs decided to join in on the fun, and I took some pictures of them!

Katie Pessagno, Puppy Concierge, Finn the German Shepherd

We love riding around and looking at the Christmas lights. Finn has his own ornament and stocking. This year we are traveling and will be walking on the beach on Christmas Day as a new tradition! Walking on the beach on Christmas Day will be fun and meaningful because our puppy loves being around water! Our Finn is a big goofball and swings his head when he is in front. Last year he did that and knocked our tree over! Luckily nothing broke! He scared himself and ran outside on our deck and wouldn't come in for over an hour.

Devlyn Ray, Breeder Liaison Manager, Fitzgerald the Old English Sheepdog

Fitz and I don't really do traditions, but we both like to spend as much time in the kitchen as possible around the holidays. He's my official taste tester! This year he's helping perfect a lemon lavender polenta cake.

Kelly Wicoff, Puppy Concierge, Maxx the Rat Terrier (deceased)

My boy Maxx crossed the Rainbow Bridge this past summer. He was 17 years old. He loved opening his gifts, and the family would watch him tear the packages bit by bit! He was so smart and enjoyed that he was in the spotlight! He loved getting any toy, but his favorite was a stuffed bunny rabbit. He chewed it up pretty well, but I still have it. He also loved a battery-operated mouse that he would chase through the house. We dressed Maxx in ugly Christmas sweaters and took pictures of him looking humiliated. He brought my family so much joy and is missed.

Carli Rivera, Customer Concierge, Benito & Bonnie the Mini Goldendoodles

This will be their first Christmas with their new family since they were adopted! We plan on having many holiday traditions with our puppies

My first puppy was a Christmas gift back when I was 7-8 years old. I can still remember all the joy and happiness of finally having a puppy that my sisters and I had been dreaming of. Now, I get to make that dream come true for other families!

Even if you don’t have a pet, you can always share the gift of giving. Visit your local shelter and donate food or necessities, or foster a dog during the holidays!

Charles Elliott, Resolutions Manager, Grant the Shih Tzu

Grant gets his own stocking filled with treats. He also gets an overabundance of attention and affection from all the visiting family. And of course, he gets a big ole’ plate of table food from the Christmas dinner.

Renee Reamy, Assistant Operations Manager, Zeus- the Plott Hound/Retriever & Athena the Aussiedoodle

Our furry babies love Christmas! My children and I make homemade holiday dog treats for them every year to fill in their own stockings. They also enjoy eating the leftovers from Christmas brunch, yum!

Last year on Christmas morning, the pups were patiently waiting for Santa to come with their treats which is funny because they usually are terrors running around like crazy any other day.

Kira Albano, Puppy Concierge, Honey the German Shepherd/Pomeranian Buddy the Boxer/Pomsky

Every year my pup gets a treat advent calendar that he gets to enjoy every day of December! We bake homemade treats for all of our furry friends and family. Bark Box sends us a Christmas-themed box every year with 2 Christmas toys and Christmas-themed treats!

My childhood dog ate an entire ham off of the table for Christmas Eve dinner.

Jade Warner, Travel/Insurance Representative, Jefe & Sasha the XL American Bullies

The puppies get stockings and doggy baked goods every Christmas and plenty of Christmas dinner scraps from the kids. Both of my puppies weigh close to 100 pounds, so we CANNOT let them close to the Christmas tree until after all gifts have been opened. The tree usually loses a few decorations between them and the 4 kids trying to calm them down!

Shannon Gegor, Travel Manager, Waylon the Bernese Mountain Dog & Dolly Parton the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

We have to wait until Christmas morning to put gifts out because Dolly has a paper fetish and unwraps every single one of them! They also each get their own stocking.

Lucy Hughes, Brand Journalist, Bowie the Golden Retriever

This will be our fourth year celebrating Christmas with Bowie. Good luck trying to wrap presents with him because he will steal bits of paper and bows and play keep-away with them. Nearly all presents have a strand of fur stuck to the tape that we call “golden Glitter” no matter how much we try to manage dog hair in our home!

He gets not one, but two stockings – one for the fireplace, and one tiny one outside his crate. On Christmas morning, he is the first to open his stocking to get a new toy that occupies his time while the rest of the family opens gifts. He also gets the fatty part of the New York Strip or Ribeye steak for Christmas dinner.

One year we caught him trying to eat the tree. We laughed so much at his guilty face! He also carried around our soft ornaments in his mouth. Unlike what you’d do with a human toddler, we had to put the soft ones up high and the breakable ones at the bottom of the tree because he was not interested in those.

Jaclyn Williams, Breeder Liaison, Cash the Corgi, Pooty the Mini Poodle, Preacher the Bernese Mountain Dog, & Soloman the Maine Coon

Every year, they get a new bed, big bone, stocking, & treats. They get so excited! They will grab their bones and climb into their new beds. I can't imagine life without my family and pets. Life is short and you have to soak up the unconditional love from all.

Lindsey Phillips, Administrative Supervisor, Ellie & Sherman, Chihuahuas and Elton, Paul, & Prudence, Pit Mixes

All of our dogs have their own stockings that I fill with treats and toys.  They love eating warm cookies from the oven, and they will sit and stare at the oven until they're done. They all have matching sweaters this year, too!

Peter Corso, Customer Experience Lead, Bailey the Gerberian Shepsky

Bailey's present from Santa Paws came early this year...a new orthopedic bed with a headrest (which she hasn't figured out how to use yet)! Her tradition is guarding the presents under the Christmas Tree while I go over to my family members' homes to celebrate. When it snows, she is always the dog outside prancing around.

Tina Bailey, Administrative Manager, Phoenix the Calico Cat

Phoenix loves Christmas morning. She's usually front and center while everyone’s opening gifts. She gets her own special kitty stocking that includes toys and all of her favorite treats. As you can see from the photo, her favorite spot to relax this time of year is under the Christmas tree. She also enjoys patting the ornaments all over the house once she knocks them off.
