The joy and therapy found in companionship with a puppy dog are one-of-a-kind! Dogs' innocence and unconditional love for you make it hard to be stressed out when around them. They greet us with exuberance when we return home, wagging their tails and showering us with affectionate licks. Numerous studies have shown that interacting with dogs can reduce cortisol levelsdogs can lower blood pressure, and dogs can release endorphins, leading to improved overall health. It is vitally important, as you know, to invest in your own mental and physical health, and what better way than to do so with a puppy?! Recently, Pawrade helped share these puppy powers of healing with a group of people at The Reset Retreat, a scientifically-based wellness event focused on eliminating trauma and subconscious stress in life.

The Reset Retreat

The Reset Retreat curated a group of clinicians, self-help influencers, and courageous guests for a weekend of personal growth and self-evaluation. All members came together to learn about the pathways in the human brain and enjoy the presence of other individuals eager to live their most desirable life. Involving all participants in an immersive experience was fulfilling, to say the least. Watching the guests grow from a place of unknowing to a state of confidence, in a matter of days, spurred the inspiration to write about it and bring more light to the unique healing powers of dogs.

Pawrade had the honor of sponsoring Jamie Hess (@nycfitfam) to help put together The Reset Retreat. Other practitioners and spokespeople included the incredible Dr. Don Wood (@drdonwood), fitness guru Anne Mahlum (@annemahlum), wellness coach Brett Eeaton (@bretteaton_), and the inspirational Nikki Sharp (@nikkisharp). It was the perfect team of leaders to add guidance in self-love.

Introducing Jamie Hess

Jamie is a wellness mentor with an immense fan base. She inspires others to pursue a life of passion and power through healthy food choices, feel-good clothing, and of course, fitness, and meditation. Jamie's relationship with Pawrade began when she and her family welcomed home Bodhi the Bernedoodle. Like most families, their new, beloved, furry friend became the favorite family member. He was the missing piece to completing their puzzle of a happy family. Bodhi immediately stole the hearts of Jamie’s kids, her husband, and her own on Bodhi's puppy homecoming day. If Jamie and her 185k followers on Instagram can trust Pawrade, so can you!

Introducing Dr. Don Wood, PhD

Dr. Don Wood focuses on personal redemption from trauma and stress, particularly from early onset psychological damage. Dedicated research fueled the mission of Dr. Wood. He founded his clinic, Inspired Performance Institute (of Orlando, Florida), with the goal to serve the needs of people seeking fundamental therapy for submerged psychological issues. His acute awareness of behavior and past trauma originated from his own personal experiences. As a researcher and humanitarian, Dr. Wood created The Inspired Performance Program (TIPPTM), which has gained worldwide recognition as a clinical approach to reprogramming the brain’s response to trauma. Combining quantifiable tests, like EEGs and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, with a qualitative investigation of self-reporting and counseling, has produced irrefutable results.

At the Reset Retreat, Dr. Wood led the therapeutic practices of healing with his profound theories and techniques, which have served survivors of major trauma, like survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing and survivors of mass shooting incidents. Through brain mapping and hyperbaric chamber therapy, Dr. Don Wood provided a deep examination of the livelihoods of each guest at The Reset Retreat.

Pawrade's puppy playdate

Dr. Don Wood and Jamie Hess graciously invited Pawrade to organize a puppy playdate for the guests of The Reset Retreat to enjoy. Luckily, one of Pawrade’s home breeders lived close by and was raising a litter of Bernedoodle puppies for sale that were absolutely adorable. During intermissions between The Reset Retreat’s speakers and itinerary, guests had the opportunity to rest and relax with the puppies. It was such a heartwarming experience to assist in the rehabilitative efforts of Dr. Don Wood and Jamie, and the puppies truly were the perfect addition to an amazing weekend.

By connecting adorable puppies with people in need, Pawrade has provided a source of comfort, joy, and unconditional love. Pawrade's commitment to enhancing mental health through the healing power of puppies has undoubtedly made a profound difference in the lives of those seeking solace and support.

This is not the first time that Pawrade has offered its support and resources to introduce a puppy’s power toward emotional well-being. On top of sponsoring The Reset Retreat, Pawrade has also made dreams come true alongside the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Families and their children have experienced the inspiring benefits of welcoming a puppy home due to the diligence of Pawrade and Make-A-Wish

What is the Schumann Resonance?

Dr. Wood's in-depth research birthed his discovery of an interesting correlation between the natural energy state of dogs and the Schumann Resonance. So, what is the Schumann Resonance? It is the core frequency of the Earth, vibrating at 7.83 Hertz (Hz). It is often referred to as the "heartbeat of the Earth" and is closely tied to human biology. Research suggests that exposure to the Schumann Resonance can have positive effects on human health, including reduced stress levels, improved sleep quality, and enhanced emotional well-being. Alpha waves are present during a relaxed but awake state, as seen in meditation, deep thinking, prayer, and relaxed moods. Beta waves are associated with active thinking, problem-solving, and alertness. Gamma waves are the fastest brain waves and are linked to high-level cognitive functions, perception, and peak performance. Delta waves are the slowest brain waves, occurring during deep sleep and meditation. Theta waves are associated with daydreaming and light sleep. Each wave frequency represents a different state of consciousness, and understanding them helps in studying brain activity and mental states.

Frequencies and furry friends

Amazingly, the alpha wave frequency of a dog’s energy is based at 7.83 Hz as well. This measurable connection between the Earth’s electromagnetism and a dog’s electromagnetism was a profound realization by Dr. Wood, supporting the zen-like quality of a dog’s ability to help humans reach calmer states of mind. Dogs, being deeply attuned to their environment, may serve as conduits for the Schumann resonance, further amplifying their positive impact as emotional support animals.

Dr. Don Wood’s theory implies that this neuroscientific connection helps us reason why dogs make such perfect emotional and therapeutic support for humans, especially for victims of significant emotional disturbances. Since the alpha wave frequency is achieved in relaxed states of mind, away from stress and commotion, dogs help resonate humans with the natural frequency of the Earth, or in simpler terms, dogs help “ground” humans with this frequency. As a result, dogs help people find peace and equilibrium in the presence of stress and trauma.

Dogs sense sound frequencies at a much greater range than humans. This makes them wonderful protectors, as they can perceive incoming threats before they happen. In the demonstrative video below, a Cane Corso Mastiff owner records how his dogs react to a stressful situation before it is present. You can see the dog on the left prepare itself even before the threat was visually noticeable:

It’s a perfect example of how dogs provide us with emotional and physical support. Their innate ability to recognize threats and protect against stress is uncanny. Dogs have long been recognized as “man's best friend”, and their companionship goes beyond mere friendship. Dogs have emerged as invaluable emotional support animals, providing comfort, companionship, and a range of therapeutic benefits to individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges. Dogs possess a specific ability to form deep and unconditional bonds with us as humans. This special connection goes beyond words and is built on trust, loyalty, and love. When an individual is struggling with emotional distress, the presence of a dog can have a remarkable effect on their well-being. Dogs are non-judgmental listeners, offering comfort and solace without the need for verbal communication. Their presence alone can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, and increase feelings of happiness and relaxation. How are Dogs Used in Therapy?

Dogs are increasingly used in therapeutic interventions, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and counseling centers. Their presence during therapy sessions has been shown to alleviate anxiety and encourage emotional expression, particularly in individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), autism spectrum disorders, or depression.

Companionship for the elderly

Dogs offer unwavering companionship to the elderly, who may experience loneliness and isolation. Beyond providing comfort, they encourage physical activity through walks, promote social interactions, and provide a sense of purpose and responsibility.  Small dog breeds require less physical exercise, making them ideal for seniors. These furry friends bring joy, laughter, and purpose into the lives of the elderly while promoting mental stimulation and a sense of responsibility. If you are in this stage of life, some of Pawrade's most popular breeds for people in this stage of life are Toy Poodle puppies for sale, teacup Yorkie puppies for sale, toy Maltese puppies for sale, and teacup Chihuahua puppies for sale.

Assistance for veterans

Dogs have played a significant role in assisting veterans dealing with physical and psychological trauma. These specially trained service dogs provide emotional support, help with tasks such as retrieving medication, and offer a constant source of comfort and stability for those suffering from conditions like PTSD. These loyal four-legged friends offer unconditional love, empathy, and a sense of security, helping to alleviate anxiety and nightmares. Their intuitive nature enables them to detect emotional distress and respond with comforting gestures. By welcoming a dog into your life, you'll experience reduced stress, improved mood, increased social interaction, and a renewed sense of purpose. Embrace the incredible bond between dogs and veterans, and embark on a remarkable path to recovery. Pawrade offers a wonderful selection of dog breeds for PTSD and dog breeds for veterans. Emotional support in schools

yoga blog 3.jpg

Dogs are increasingly being introduced into school environments for schools exploring how to create a better learning environment. The goal is to help alleviate stress and anxiety among students, and to offer kids with special needs an extra hand (or paw) to find success as they navigate their early development. Interactions with dogs have been shown to increase focus and attention and promote a positive atmosphere, ultimately enhancing the overall learning experience. When a child is experiencing heightened emotions or sensory overload, interacting with a therapy dog can help them relax and refocus, allowing them to engage more effectively in learning activities. This especially works for children with special needs. Further, dogs can act as social catalysts, facilitating social interactions and improving interpersonal communication skills for children. Many children with autism and Down syndrome face challenges in socializing and developing relationships. However, the presence of a dog can encourage positive social engagement. For example, a child with autism may struggle with initiating conversations or making eye contact with peers but might be more comfortable interacting with a therapy dog. They may be motivated to speak or communicate in some way to interact with the dog, which can then translate into improved social skills with their parents, teachers, and classmates.
