You’re so excited that you’ve bought a new puppy for sale! Working out travel arrangements with your Puppy Concierge at Pawrade has been an easy process. While you’re on the phone hearing your travel options, you remember you’ve got to check that fire ant pile outside to prepare your home for your new puppy, removing anything dangerous to keep your puppy safe.

You step outside into the sunshine. Off in the distance, you see a floating figure of a woman gracefully descending from the sky. She appears to be holding a carpet bag and an open umbrella.

“Wait a second! Did Pawrade send Mary Poppins to deliver my puppy? Wow, that was fast!”

Mary Poppins gently lands, opens her carpet bag, and begins pulling out essential items for your puppy. Here comes a leash, some paperwork, a toy, and finally, your wriggly puppy!

While travel at Pawrade doesn’t quite work that way, wouldn’t it be great if Mary Poppins delivered your puppy?

After all, she is the original flight nanny! (We’ll see ourselves out now)!

But in all seriousness, you may be wondering how your newly purchased puppy for sale can get from your trusted breeder into your loving arms. One of those options is utilizing the services of a puppy flight nanny to fly your new best friend right to you. Discover what a puppy flight nanny is, what they do, and how they fly your new puppy to your loving arms.

What is a Puppy Flight Nanny?

Pawrade offers several travel arrangements if you are not able to meet a breeder for a local puppy pick-up. New pawrents can choose to use a ground transportation service, fly their puppy cargo, use a private door-to-door nanny experience, or select a flight nanny. Choosing for your puppy to travel by air is one of the most reliable, cost-effective, and quickest ways to meet your puppy if the circumstances are right for you.

A flight nanny is a professional who maintains puppy care from the breeder all the way to your loving arms at the airport closest to you. A flight nanny will arrange to meet the breeder and take your puppy to the airport, stay with your puppy the entire flight, and deliver your puppy to you at the airport of your choice. They are knowledgeable in how to make your puppy’s travel experience comfortable for everyone involved – especially for your precious best friend! The VIP experience might be just what you’re looking for!

At Pawrade, the majority of our flight nannies are off-the-clock flight attendants who are extremely experienced with flying procedures and very familiar with airline procedures for pet travel. We also have a small team of in-house nannies who may travel with your puppy. In addition, sometimes your breeder will be your actual flight nanny or utilize one of their employees to serve as a flight nanny. You can always discuss details with your Puppy Concierge.

What Does a Flight Nanny Do?

While a flight nanny plays many roles, above all, a puppy flight nanny is totally prepared for the journey and knows how to keep your puppy secure and happy on the way to see you.

A flight nanny keeps your puppy safe and clean

You may be wondering, “How does a flight nanny keep my puppy safe and clean?” The safety and health of your puppy is our highest priority. Flight nannies know how to travel safely with pets and have a strict protocol to never leave your puppy alone – not by the seat to ask a question to the desk clerk, not leave them in the waiting area while running to the bathroom, not asking someone else to keep an eye on them – we really mean never. Your puppy will stay by your flight nanny’s side the entire time.

Flight nannies also maintain your puppy’s health. Young puppies have not had their full set of puppy vaccinations yet, so it is reckless and potentially a terrible health threat to allow your puppy to be passed around to other travelers. In addition, your puppy will not come in contact with another dog due to its age and vulnerability. While your puppy might be single, it certainly is not ready to mingle!

Speaking of other dogs, flight nannies know how to allow your puppy to relieve itself without taking it to a pet relief area. Not only are other dogs most likely at the pet relief area, but you can never be too sure if the area is sanitary or not. Who knows what possible parasites and filth lurk in the fake grass? Not your puppy! Instead, flight nannies can use sanitary pee pads in a family restroom and clean up any messes to leave the area better than they found it.

Flight nannies keep your puppy clean and tidy during their trip. They are prepared to clean accidents so your puppy isn’t soiled the whole flight — they bring along proper non-toxic, puppy-friendly supplies to wipe down your puppy to freshen up or clean up messes.

Lastly, your puppy is never sedated, medicated, or given specialized calming treats. Flight nannies monitor stress levels and respond with appropriate, non-medicated comfort techniques.

A flight nanny understands a puppy’s potential stress

Traveling to new places can be stressful for humans, but imagine what a puppy must be going through. Bright lights, new smells, loud noises, ear pressure, and lots of people create a totally different environment from their mama and littermates.

Flight nannies know how to recognize signs of stress, but they do their best to minimize stress in the first place. They keep your puppy on a schedule of napping, eating, drinking, playing, and bathroom time as much as possible, especially when crossing different time zones or during a long day of travel.

A flight nanny will only transport your puppy

Pawrade does not double up on puppy deliveries from different breeders to various households. With multiple dogs from different breeders, it’s not in the interest of health due to not having proper vaccinations, and we provide that one-on-one VIP experience for your puppy, not wrangling 3 fluffy bundles at once.

A flight nanny provides constant communication

You won’t have to wonder what’s going on during transport because a flight nanny keeps you in the loop every step of the way — even when you might not ask for updates. The communication is so thorough that you feel as if you’re on the journey in person! You’ll get text messages, photos, videos, and phone calls that thoroughly document the entire journey.

A flight nanny uses proper equipment designed for travel

Flight nannies use airline-approved soft pet travel crates that are the right size for both your puppy and for plane travel. The bottoms are made of absorbent, leak-proof material in case of accidents. The soft travel crates are also extremely durable with lots of zippers and ventilated sections. Flight nannies will place puppies under the seat in front of them, so a specially designed travel crate fits perfectly while providing comfort to your puppy.

A flight nanny obeys airline guidelines & laws for animal travel

Our flight nannies do not just show up at the airport with your puppy hoping for the best. Instead, they are well-versed in airline & national guidelines and laws regarding pet travel.

National laws and regulations regarding puppy travel

USDA Animal Care, a unit within the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the US Department of Agriculture, oversees the Animal Welfare Act. The AWA “establishes requirements concerning the transportation, sale, and handling of certain animals and includes restrictions on the importation of live dogs for purposes of resale” among other animal protections. Each state also has guidelines for interstate pet transport.

Because we do not provide flight nannies on international travel, interstate domestic flights will all follow the same national laws.

Airline puppy travel regulations: Age, size, & breed restrictions

In addition to AWA, airlines take their policies from the US Department of Transportation’s animal travel guidelines and may impose their own on top of pre-established rules.

A flight nanny will not be deployed until the puppy is over 8 weeks old before coming home or weaned less than 5 days. Some tiny dogs must wait until they reach 2 lbs. or 12 weeks old, and most puppies cannot exceed the weight limit of 20 lbs. for cabin travel.

Airlines typically require a current health certificate with all vaccines received listed by a licensed veterinarian. Flight nannies carry all necessary paperwork on their person.

Airline carriers will have restrictions on certain breeds when flying. While most of these apply to pets flying in the cargo hold, it’s important to know about snub-nosed breeds’ needs.

Snub-nosed breeds, also known as brachycephalic breeds, can have trouble flying well because the shape of their nose can cause respiratory problems. For this reason, snub-nosed breeds should never fly cargo and instead should stay with a flight nanny in a pressurized environment. If you have purchased a snub-nosed puppy for sale, a flight nanny is a perfect option to meet your new furry friend. Some examples of brachycephalic breeds are:

If you’re wondering where a flight nanny and your puppy sit during the flight, rest assured we have thought that through since most airlines have rules to follow. Some flights only allow a certain amount of dogs per flight, so we will never try to sneak on a puppy. Flight nannies avoid sitting in seats with emergency exits or bulkheads and fly coach, not business or first class.

A flight nanny is a same-day service

Pawrade’s goal is to use a same-day window as much as possible when delivering your puppy. That means your puppy will never leave the airport, not even in long layovers, to go sightseeing, or stay overnight in local AirBnBs! Same-day travel ensures the process is as quick as possible to minimize any potential stress.

However, you may choose to travel to the nearest airport, which may be a 20-minute drive from your home or a few hours away. You may opt to prepare for a hotel stay with your puppy after your airport pickup on the way home, but your puppy will not stay in a hotel with the flight nanny.

How Much Does a Puppy Flight Nanny Cost?

When you book a flight nanny experience with Pawrade, we charge a flat fee with no surprise charges. If you need a home delivery or private nanny service, you may need to ask for a custom quote. We handle all the logistics for you, working with you and your breeder to find the best flight possible at the times and dates that work for everyone involved.

Our $1099 fee covers a comprehensive range of services, including the flight and associated travel costs, the flight nanny’s time and expertise, and continuous care during travel.

What is not covered in the fee?

Pawrade does not cover your travel to and from the airport. You may choose to drive to the airport yourself and park, or you might use a rideshare service that you will need to pay for. In addition, we do not provide hotel stays or make overnight arrangements for your journey home.

If you are interested in more services, such as door-to-door services with transportation from the airport to your home, discuss our private nanny services with your Puppy Concierge when discussing travel options.

How Does Pawrade Fight Scams?

You may be hesitant to use a flight nanny service if you’re not sure if it’s a scam. Some red flags would be not providing thorough details about the process. Another indication you’re entering a puppy scam is if the price is too good to be true. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, so cheaper definitely does not equal better service. Lastly, if the site accepts payment via cash, Western Money Union, PayPal, or Cash App and insists on contacting you through WhatsApp, Telegram, or similar anonymous services, it’s probably a scam.

At Pawrade, we use a secured payment platform called PetPay for all transactions, including flight arrangements. PetPay is simple to use as a worry-free pet adoption management platform designed to make placing a pet an easy and safe experience every step of the way. We are committed to fighting puppy scams, and we have put measures into place to give you peace of mind.
