I wanted to let you know, we are fairly disappointed with the shape Stevie arrived in. We had to take him in due to anal bleeding and come to find out he has Giardia which is a single celled organism that creates sis and bleeding. This is cost us nearly $400 not to mention a little guy has been suffering for several days. Please Call me. Thank you

While your puppy left with a clean bill of health prior to departure, stress from travel can cause any number of ailments for existing but dormant parasites to flare up. Puppies of all breeds and of all sizes experience varying levels of stress when leaving their familiar environment. It doesn't matter if the buyer picks a puppy up directly from the breeder and drives home or if the puppy is delivered from a pampered driver or traveling via air. The fact of the matter is puppies endure stress from the unfamiliarity of everything related to departing their comfort zone. This is why we educate our buyers with multiple phone calls and emails covering stress induced illnesses and what to expect or be on the look out for upon arrival. Our primary goal is to ensure the health of every puppy while ensuring buyers are educated on new puppy ownership. In addition to the phone calls we make, we send out emails highlighting the importance of 1. Nutri-Cal as a high caloric supplement which must be administered to puppies for 2 weeks upon arrival; 2. Parvo preventative care as all puppies are prone to the contagious virus until they receive their 4 month booster shot; 3. The importance of making a Veterinarian appointment upon arrival. The most common stress induced illnesses are parasites (worms), kennel cough, dehydration and diarrhea. All of which are due to the puppy leaving their comfort space. In addition to educating our buyers about the most common signs to lookout for upon delivery and/or pick-up, we highlight how important it is for a new puppy buyer to actually take the time to listen to what we have to teach. We've seen many Veterinarians in certain geographic areas of the United States take advantage of new puppy buyers with extensive tests and oftentimes over treatment resulting in very high veterinarian bills for conditions which are very common and inexpensive to treat. Giardia is one the most common parasites which is found in all environments from the ground, soil, to the grass and to drinking water. Stress exasperates the parasite (flares up) which then causes the puppy to have diarrhea. Any reputable Veterinarian would treat Giardia with a very inexpensive fecal float exam (this exam is required upon the first Veterinarian check-up regardless) and an antibiotic which costs on average $40. We are happy you received your puppy and am sorry your puppy got a little stressed out during his move. We highly recommend finding an alternative Veterinarian in your area for the future care of your puppy.
